Tennis Club

The most popular court activity is groups of 4 players practising weekly - Players book time on the court using the booking chart inside the court, contacting others on the social register if they need extra players.

For those who like to play competitively, Ramsden has a team which competes in the Wychwood League against Charlbury, Moreton-in-Marsh, Shipton-under-Wychwood and Stonesfield, and we have won the Wychwood Trophy several times!

A programme of social events can be found on the Court Noticeboard , and will be posted on the Ramsden Village website.

The annual subscription is due on 1st July :

£25 - Adults

£15 - Under 18’s (as at next 1st January)

£15 - Students in full-time education

£15 - Over 65’s

£65 - Family (one household)

The court is managed by a group of volunteers - The Ramsden Tennis Court Committee - and the annual subscriptions/donations received will ensure it remains well-maintained, supported by its active Club.

If you do not play tennis yourself, you may have visitors to your home, or friends who might enjoy a game.  They can do so by paying just £2 per person per session.

If you would like to join the Ramsden Tennis Club, or would like more information, please contact us by emailing  tennisclub@ramsdenvillage.co.uk or click here for our LTA ‘totaltennis’ Page

In 1997, a group of tennis players and other volunteers raised the funds, with the assistance of additional funding from West Oxfordshire District Council and Sport England, to build the Ramsden Tennis Court in 2000.

The tennis court is for the benefit of everyone in the village and neighbourhood.  There are currently around 90 club members.

Coaching is available, especially for the under 10’s which takes place during Easter and Summer holidays with an LTA coach.

See the Notice Board for forthcoming events.

Another lovely early spring Bank Holiday tennis event took place on 5th May, when players took part in the Round Robin Tournament, now an annual event on the Ramsden tennis club calendar.

The 12 players and spectators tucked into hot chipolatas and baps afterwards and a good time was had by all.

Pauline, although nursing a painful shoulder and borrowed tennis racquet, still managed to beat the other competitors to win the Ramsden trophy. More events to follow throughout the year.
